Grace Chapel We are a congregation of believers who take seriously the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20; to go into all the world and make disciples. Our doctrine is aligned with that of the Southern Baptist and Scripture guides us in all we do. We adhere to the authority of Scripture in all matters of faith and life. We are here to take to the world the Gospel message of the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ alone and by this bring glory to God among the nations. _________________________________________________________ MISSION & MANDATE Mandate Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. The Reason • In the Matthew 28:19-20, the grammatical connotation of the present participle verbs, go, make, baptize, and teach do not all carry the same weight in our Lords command. While the verbs go, baptize, and teach communicate actions to be taken, only the verb make is an imperative expressing a command; the others simple state actions that are carried out to complete the directive. • Therefore, this command to make disciples becomes the marching orders of the Church. Understandably, we are to go that is, get into action, begin to move, or take action concerning something, for nothing worth while comes from complacency or laxness. Mission • Our purpose is to reach people for Christ through the five fold ministry of the New Testament church; drawing them through evangelism, bringing them into fellowship, leading them into worship, equipping them through discipleship, and moving them into ministry. • We are here to help the hurting by showing love, acceptance, and the forgiveness found in Jesus Christ. To welcome anyone into our church family who desires to develop to spiritual maturity through the Word of God. Vision To experience God building His church in our community. To be an established fellowship of believers, whose purpose is to reach the un-churched, lead believers into spiritual growth, and influence our community for Christ. Scripture Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1 God wants to build his church through willing, obedient, sanctified people; but not necessarily perfect ones. |
