A distinctive doctrinal belief of Baptists and fundamental Christians down through the centuries has been the “eternal security of the believers.”
That is the belief, according to Ephesians 1, that our eternal destiny is sealed by the Holy Spirit at the moment of our salvation. Paul the Apostle wrote of it in 1 Tim 4:12b "set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." This knowledge and assurance of our eternal security is the reason we have confidence in Him and the desire to obey Him. |
